Linebacker Henry To’o To’o announced on Saturday his intentions to transfer to Alabama.
To’o To’o, who played two seasons for the Tennessee Vols, entered the transfer portal shortly after UT fired Jeremy Pruitt as the program’s head coach in January.

The announcement from To’o To’o ends a bizarre transfer process that saw a multitude of rumors. Over the last couple of months, we’ve heard everything from To’o To’o staying at UT, to Alabama being a done deal, to Ohio State is the leader for the California native.
Was Alabama the best decision for Henry To’o To’o?
To’o To’o to Alabama certainly isn’t a surprise. Despite all the rumors, Bama always seemed like the most likely landing spot for the former four-star recruit.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the best landing spot.
To’o To’o won’t be guaranteed a starting job in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide will have to replace leading tackler Dylan Moses, but they have several options already on the roster.
Christian Harris will almost certainly be a starting inside linebacker for Alabama in 2021.
To’o To’o will be battling for the other inside linebacker spot. And he’ll have some stiff competition.
Junior Shane Lee, who totaled 86 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a true freshman in 2019, should be the favorite to start opposite Harris. Lee didn’t see as much action in 2020 with a healthy Dylan Moses in the lineup, but he has plenty of experience in Alabama’s defense.
Senior Jaylen Moody will also be in the mix.
Is it possible that To’o To’o beats out both of those guys and wins a starting job?
Of course.
But it doesn’t seem likely.
To’o To’o didn’t go through spring practice anywhere. He’s completely new to Alabama’s roster. And he’s going to be in a tense position battle for the first time in his career.
There’s no doubt that To’o To’o is talented, but I’m not sure landing at Alabama was the best decision for the former Vol.
