The Redondo Union school board accepted a check for just over $1 million from the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation (RBEF) Oct. 26.
RBEF president Doris-Donlou-Richmond said the money is to“ fund impactful programs for our students and teachers.”
The money will go to individual college and career-readiness Innovative Mini-Teacher Grants, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), robotics, music, expanded counseling services, PSAT test costs, intramural sports for middle school, and a new e-sports team for middle and high school students coming next spring.
Avid is a national non-profit (formed in San Diego in 1980) to train teachers to help prepare students for careers, and college by increasing student expectations and support.
RBEF raises money through donor drives, golf tournaments and a gala. For more information about the foundation visit RBEF.com. ER
