FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Former congressman Mark Souder has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The Grabill resident, who served in the House of Representatives from 1995 through 2010, posted about his health battle on social media late Saturday afternoon. He said the diagnosis was confirmed on Thursday following a “2-hour surgery for something else.” Souder described it as a “very difficult cancer” to beat and said he would begin chemotherapy, possibly next week.
“God is in control. He says we should ask in prayer,” Souder said. “We would appreciate your prayers too. Diane and I will accept whatever is God’s answer. Jesus is Lord.”
Souder, a Republican, recently published a book on the history of television in Fort Wayne.
