All three contestants on Friday’s episode of “Jeopardy!” were stumped by the Final Jeopardy question.
According to show recappers, the last clue came from the American Geography category and read: “Native Americans called it Okwa-ta, or ‘wide water’; Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville would rename it for a countryman.”
Friday’s players included Erica Rapheal, an epidemiologist from St. Paul, Minnesota; Ben Goldstein, a content marketing specialist from Dexter, Michigan; and Suzanne Goldlust, a marketing manager from Reston, Virginia.
Apparently, none of them issued the correct answer, which was Lake Pontchartrain.
“I personally found this to be a very difficult Final Jeopardy clue, though, that might just be because I’m Canadian,” The Jeopardy Fan writer Andy Saunders said of the triple stumper.
“However, it does become easier if you know that Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville is the founder of Louisiana. I just don’t know how many home viewers or contestants will know who founded Louisiana. (I know, for one, guessed Lake Champlain; it would not surprise me if my guess was matched by at least one player on stage.”
The Post has contacted a “Jeopardy!” representative for comment.
Just last week, a different group of three contestants was stumped by 23 clues, resulting in the lowest Coryat score — a player’s score if wagering is disregarded — of the season.
One Reddit user claimed the known record for “Jeopardy!” triple stumpers is 24, set in 2005.
On Thursday, viewers were left thinking “Oh, Lord” when all three contestants couldn’t finish the Lord’s Prayer.
