If you follow Allure's editor in chief Michelle Lee on Instagram, then you know there's one beauty-related topic she loves above all: nails. In fact, she's the queen of nail art around the office, and while she's always had an interest in manicures, her fascination with nail art started about five years ago, thanks to Miss Pop. During downtime on a shoot, Miss Pop taught her some simple tricks to creating beautiful designs. From then, Lee started to learn more on her own, leading to all the cute and inventive looks we see on her Instagram today.
And while it's hard to think about her struggling with anything related to beauty, she does know her limits. Though she does occasionally push herself out of her comfort zone, she tends to choose simple designs that can even be accomplished with her non-dominant hand. "I love super elaborate curves and lines, but they’re hard to do on yourself. So I’ll choose a design that maybe has one straight line that I can do using a striper brush or using a stencil sticker. [I'll also choose] a design that utilizes dots or blobs, or that’s forgiving enough to do freehand," she explains.
