In baseball, there is typically a culture of keeping your head down and mouth shut. Players prefer to keep their interpersonal dramas within the confines of the clubhouse whenever possible. So it was a rare exception when Yankees reliever Zack Britton answered a question about his teammate, Domingo Germán, with anything other than a simple deflection.
“Sometimes you don’t get to control who your teammates are,” Britton said. “That’s the situation.”
Britton is an MLBPA representative for the team and one of the few pitchers remaining from the 2019 Yankees staff.
Germán is returning this spring after nearly 18 months away from MLB following an 81-game suspension under the league domestic violence policy. He served 18 games at the end of the 2019 season, then missed the entire shortened 2020 season while serving his 63 remaining...
