Despite the fact the Brooklyn Nets’ first-round series of the 2020 NBA Playoffs against the Toronto Raptors didn’t go as planned, interim head coach Jacque Vaughn did a lot with the opportunity he was given after the franchise parted ways with Kenny Atkinson back in March.

After winning the only two pre-hiatus games in which he was head coach, Vaughn upset both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Clippers during Disney bubble seeding play, en route to a 5-3 record to secure the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Still, the Nets want to do a full search for the next permanent head coach.

But the guys who’ve played under Vaughn wouldn’t mind it if he stuck around, including Jarrett Allen who spoke about the interim head coach’s future on a Zoom call after Sunday’s loss, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

In terms of Jacque coming back, I think it would be great. It’s easy to play for him, it’s easy to connect with Jacque, it’s easy to kind of mesh well with him. He’s easy to talk to as a player. He knows what players are going through, what they’re thinking. He’s been in our role. So, to play for somebody that has both of those things about him, it makes it easy.
