Two well-known Villages musicians have written and recorded a special song to inspire peace and understanding during this difficult time our country is facing.
Titled “Change the World,” the song was written by popular Maestro Bill Doherty and Angie Rose, who serves as music minister at New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages. It was posted on YouTube this past Tuesday and already has more than 400 views.
“I can’t say that we wrote this song as a direct response to that awful video that President Trump retweeted which showed some Villagers in a negative light,” Doherty said. “But we wanted to put something out that we feel is a little bit more representative of who we are as Villagers. It’s a song of hope and change, love and respect.”
Doherty said he wrote the music and Rose put together the lyrics for the song that “describes more accurately the sentiments of Villages residents as a whole.”
“It was a true collaboration in the sense that we both tweaked the music and the lyrics to come up with a great song,” he said, adding that they hope the song will inspire everyone to “unite together to build a brighter world.”
