Patrick Beverley trade would be ‘difficult’ for Clippers to pull off, per NBA exec - ClutchPoints

Patrick Beverley is one of the players the Los Angeles Clippers may be willing to trade under the right circumstances.

However, NBA execs believe a Beverley trade would be “difficult” for the Clips to pull off for a couple of reasons.

Per Andrew Grief of the Los Angeles Times:

Yet each executive said Patrick Beverley would prove most difficult to get value from in any potential trade because of inconsistent health and a contract that will pay him $27 million over the next two seasons. That contract, one executive said, was a “negative” that could require the Clippers to attach draft picks in any deal.

Beverley has two years left on his contract with the Clippers. He’ll make $13,333,333 in 2020-21 and $14,320,967 in 2021-22.

During the 2019-20 regular season, Beverley appeared in 51 games for the Clippers. He averaged 7.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from beyond the arc and 66.0 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2020 playoffs, where the Clippers lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals despite taking a 3-1 series lead, Beverley played in eight games and put up 6.3 points.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the Clippers trade Beverley, Lou Williams or Ivica Zubac before the 2020-21 season starts on Dec. 22. After all, the team desperately needs a starting-caliber point guard next to All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
