The United States will provide thousands of cluster bombs to Ukraine, to help the country fight off Russian aggression. The announcement was made by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. The decision is being seen as highly controversial as components of the cluster bombs can remain unexploded and undetected in soil, parks, etc and can explode years later, killing and maiming civilians long after the war has ended.The US decision comes on the eve of the NATO summit in Lithuania, where President Joe Biden is likely to face questions from allies on why the U.S. would send a weapon into Ukraine that more than two-thirds of alliance members have banned
