Real Madrid star Arda Guler admitted that it's been "a difficult season so far" after scoring his first goal for the club.
Madrid famously beat bitter rivals FC Barcelona and a string of other European clubs to the young Turk's signature last summer.
It paid Fenerbache $21.9 million for his services only for Guler to suffer a knee injury on a preseason tour of the United States.
Other setbacks meant that Guler was only allowed to make his debut at the turn of 2024 in the Copa del Rey.
In all competitions, he has only mustered 93 minutes this term with a few of those given to him by head coach Carlo Ancelotti towards the end of a rousing 4-0 win over Celta Vigo.
Still in the little he played, Guler was able to make an impact with a fantastic finish that saw him notch his first goal in Spain, which must have taken a weight off amid reports from Relevo that he will return to Turkey on loan.
"It was fantastic to score in such a stunning atmosphere. I'm thrilled to have scored my first goal, thanks to everyone who has supported me. I hope there will be many more to come and I will work hard to make it happen," Guler told the club's official channels.
"It was a good performance. I'd like to congratulate the whole team on the 4-0 win. It's been a difficult season so far, but hopefully after today better things will come.
"I'm really happy to be here. It's the best club in the world and, although it's tough, I think I have the quality and character to rise up to it," he stressed.
Explaining the move that led to the goal, Guler said: "When I was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, I saw that he was losing position. So I took the ball to my right and shot. Fortunately it went in and I'm very happy".
Ancelotti praised the teenager too, noting that the strike wasn't straightforward.
"He played very little, a few minutes, but he was convinced that he could do something. That finish was not easy," the Italian said.
"He's a great talent and we see him every day. We talk to him a lot. He's showing all his quality. He'll have a future here. No one thinks he won't have a future here. He's a great talent," Ancelotti reiterated.
