Hi everybody. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and enjoying summer as much as you can while being good to everyone. Let’s get some Pens Points for this morning, no?
A few days old, but I missed it. Conor Sheary is ready for some summer hockey and excited by the chance of a reunion with Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby. [Penguins.com]
In news that isn’t really news if you were paying attention, the Pens are hinting towards Matt Murray being the starting goalie at the start of the action. (A more interesting question [that can’t be answered right now] would be: which goalie starts the 4th game the Pens play). [NHL.com]
“Let’s put it this way,” Sullivan told The Athletic. “I know it has his attention. It has Sid’s attention. I know what it means to him to win championships. And this is an opportunity to win a championship. Those opportunities don’t come around all the time.” [The Athletic]
Don’t know why, but I kind of get that feeling too. Just look at Sid here in this pic that Evgeni Malkin put on his Instagram of the bois hanging out last week. Once you get past his thighs, just look at that face. Doesn’t it look like he’s eaten a carb in 7 years like Derek in Step Brothers?
It will be exciting to see what Sidney Crosby has in store for this season. Everything is disjointed and weird and bad, but the Penguins still have a chance to win the Stanley Cup this season. (Y’know, if the season can actually start).
One of the players trying to stop Crosby will be Philip Danault. The center finished seventh in Selke voting last season, and might be around there or higher after his defensive performance this season. [Habs Eyes on the Prize]
Former Wheeling Nailer and Wilkes-Barre Penguin Derek Army, 29, has been hired as an assistant coach for Wheeling. Army had been an assistant coach for ECHL Worcester for parts of the last two seasons. [Tribune Review]

Auston Matthews’ medical information was compromised when he was announced by Steve Simmons as testing positive for COVID while training in Arizona. [Pension Plan Puppets]
Former seventh overall pick in 2017, Lias Andersson, won’t be coming back to the New York Rangers for the play-in portion of the season. Andersson left to go back to Sweden during the season, and a divorce via a trade may be the next step with NYR. [Blueshirt Banter]
One of the most interesting award votes this year is deciding on rookie of the year between defensemen Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar. Here’s a nice breakdown and comparison of both of their seasons. [Nucks Misconduct]
Finally Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s out there. Hope you get some time to have a cold one, golf, cut the lawn or whatever else brings you joy!
