The Miami Heat have been a great team throughout the season. Led by the fearless Jimmy Butler, the Heat incredibly carved their way to the finals. Bam Adebayo proved to be the second-most important player to the team, but he has unfortunately missed two successive games in the finals. How much is Bam longing to come back to the court?
Bam Adebayo played Game 1 where the Heat lost by a massive eighteen points. Adebayo played only 21 minutes and ended the game with eight points to his name. His neck injury caused a major concern for Miami, and they played without him and Goran Dragic in back-to-back games.
Bam missing consecutive games has been a worrying factor for the Heat. But his consistency has been amazing from his rookie year till now. Before his neck strain, Bam had only missed one game since his rookie season in 2017.
In a recent interview, Bam said, “It’s difficult. Like you said, crazy fact, I’ve only missed one game since my rookie season. I don’t like missing games. If you’re wondering if I’m really injured, then there you go, because I’ve only missed one game.
“I’ve played through bruises. I’ve played through getting beat up. It’s one of those things where it’s like, I make it to my first Finals and it’s like, bro — we dream of things like that. It’s been difficult for me mentally because it hurts me that I can’t be out there and help my team. Just trying to collect more wins and be on the floor,” he further added.
How is Bam Adebayo coping from the sidelines watching the Miami Heat team play?
For a player like Bam, it must be gut-wrenching to miss two back-to-back games since the 23-year-old doesn’t usually sit out due to injuries. His physical fitness is incredible, much like his mental toughness to succeed.
Adebayo has been desperately trying to get out on the court, but his head coach and medical staff are yet to clear him. Bam spoke about his frustration with this and said, “Yeah, because I don’t miss games. That’s not me. That’s not how I’m built. I want to play. I’ve always been like that. I’ve always got the thrill of just putting on that uniform and going out there and playing.
“To be in the Finals and the medical staff is telling me I can’t play and Spo is telling me I can’t play, it sucks. But I understand. I’ve got to take care of my health. Health is wealth at the end of the day. They’re making sure I’m getting completely healthy, but it’s hard to hear your coach say, no, you can’t go. It’s tough, because I lose my head, start kicking stuff over, get upset. But it is what it is. I’ve got to deal with it,” Bam said.
The Miami Heat have now listed Bam as questionable for Game 4, which means there is a chance that fans might see him on the court. But Goran Dragic, who has been outstanding since the restart will probably miss the rest of the series.
