Silence gripped the Turkish presidential palace when it finally became clear that Joe Biden had been elected president. After President Recep Tayyip Erdogan managed to congratulate Alpha Conde, the new president of Guinea, he apparently couldn’t find the right words to wish Biden well. It was no coincidence that it was the leader of the largest opposition party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who sent Turkey’s first good wishes to Biden.
