MOORHEAD — After a rough year of fund raising efforts, 4 Luv of Dog is asking for help with a young pup who weighs less than two pounds.
Raisin, a 12-week-old Yorkie puppy, swallowed a string and developed a blockage before he was surrendered to the animal rescue.
His surgery costs were $5,000, and the rescue has raised about half of that amount so far. The shelter also needs help with other dogs who went through treatments, often costing thousands of dollars. Shelter volunteers said Raisin's recovery went well and he's doing fine now.
"The healing right after the surgery was very scary because he didn't have a lot of that body fat or anything to kind of keep him sustained," said 4 Luv of Dog fundraising coordinator Savanna Leach.
"He's just a little teeny tiny goofball here, but he made it," she said. "He made it; it was dicey, and thankfully, our emergency vet in town was really great."
Raisin is already being adopted by a new family after staying with one of the foster volunteers. Information on how to volunteer can be found here.
The fund for Raisin can be found on 4 Luv of Dog's Facebook page.
