Most of today should be relatively quiet here in 21 Country. That will change after sunset this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories starting at 7pm Saturday until 7pm Sunday. A winter storm will bring a good amount of snow all across 21 Country.
The snow is expected to start around 8pm tonight, with the bulk of the accumulation around Sunday morning. Light snow will continue throughout Sunday until early Monday morning.
Most forecast models have significantly cut back on the clownish 10"+ numbers they were throwing out earlier this week, keeping numbers and expectations at a much more "sane" level. Some model solutions still have 7-9" of snowfall for much of Northern Indiana, but they have also struggled with temperatures and melting. I am not a fan of putting out "worst case scenario" numbers, so I'm holding off on anything over 6" for now. In addition, it is possible for some isolated regions to see more than 6 inches.
This will be a wet and heavy snow. We could difficult travel conditions between low visibility and slick roads. I recommend to stay home on Sunday, but if you have to be out, make sure you proceed with caution.
You can stay tune for more details on ABC21 at 6a and 8am. I will be discussing impact and timings with the latest model updates.
