Nevada football recently wrapped up its eight-week summer conditioning program, which focusing on speed training after the winter is used to build strength. The sessions are led by Wolf Pack strength and conditioning coach Jordon Simmons.
I wanted to be put through to the test to see how difficult Nevada football's summer workouts were. Being a former pro cheerleader, we were put through rigorous training during the summer to prepare for long hours of dancing on the football field.
While I knew the two would not be the same going in, I was ready to learn, sweat and think like a member of the Wolf Pack. Simmons put me through Nevada's warm-up followed by a few speed drills before heading inside to focus on strength.
So what did I learn? A lot. Simmons is top tier at his job. He breaks down every motion and why it's needed to be done that way. He may show a firm hand during the drills, but it's because he's passionate about his work and your ability to meet your full potential.
