Fans speculate Adele's 'Easy on Me' video hints at Simon Konecki divorce - New York Post

Adele didn’t take it easy on the sly references in her newest music video for “Easy on Me.”

The 33-year-old singer released the single last week after a six-year hiatus with an accompanying music video.

Fans were quick to spot the allusions to the star’s past songs, with scenes in the video that paid homage to her others.

People connected her hit songs “Chasing Pavements,” “Hello” and “Rolling in the Deep” to her newest single, signaling that it’s a visual continuation of the same storyline.

“Adele chased pavements in her hometown [then walked] to someone’s house,” wrote one Twitter user according to the Daily Mail, “[then] built a house in rolling in the deep, she moved in that house in hello and left the house in easy on me.”

“‘Not only did Adele move out of the “hello” house but she also went back to sitting on the “rolling in the deep” chair later on,” wrote someone else.

Listeners speculated that her leaving the house she built is a nod to her recent divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki. Then, she sits in a chair in “Easy on Me,” potentially another nod to a chair she once sat in in the video for “Rolling in the Deep,” apparently sitting in the same room.

The “Easy on Me” video reached 6 million views on YouTube in a mere four hours, making it her fastest music video to achieve such a feat, beating “Hello,” which took 13 hours. By the end of the day, the video reached 19 million views and counting.

Adele’s forthcoming album “30” — set to be released Nov. 19 — will be about “inner turmoil,” she revealed last week, as well as growth and rediscovering herself.

Konecki and Adele decided to part ways in 2019 after being married for two years and dating for seven, as well as sharing their 8-year-old son Angelo.

The singer is known for her heart wrenching albums and chart-topping ballads, as well as being the center of cultural attention for her extreme weight loss and cultural appropriation controversy.

In an interview with British Vogue, Adele revealed she works out multiple times a day and has become “addicted” to working out, receiving backlash from health experts.

For the same interview, Adele also addressed the 2020 Notting Hill Carnival controversy where she donned a Jamaican flag-print attire and bantu knots in her hair, which is traditionally worn by black women.

“I didn’t read the f–king room,” she told British Vogue.

Now, she’s starting a new chapter, with “30” releasing next month, an ode to her new self post-grieving, with nods to her past music that have fans anxiously anticipating its drop.
