Jada Pinkett Smith spoke with Gwenyth Paltrow and Adrienne Banfield-Norris on “Red Table Talk” about her sex life with husband Will Smith. Jada said it’s hard maintaining a good sex life with Will.
“It’s hard. The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey. We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old, Jada said, as reported by E! Online. “That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know [what you need], especially when it comes to sex.”
“It’s like, ‘Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall,” she added.
Paltrow followed with, “Isn’t it weird, though? It’s like someone doesn’t read your mind and we feel crushed.”
Paltrow was on the show promoting her new Netflix series “Sex, Love & goop.”
“Crushed! You tell me what you need. Tell me what you want, and on top of it, I know that I have to be accountable to do the same...I really try,” Jada continued. “It’s uncomfortable, but it’s deeply healthy, and I think around sex, because it’s something that we don’t talk about and there’s so much fantasy around it.”
Recently, Will spoke with GQ and talked about his open marriage with Jada.
“Jada never believed in conventional marriage.… Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up. There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection,” Smith told GQ.
In response to Jada on “Red Table Talk,” fans began to blast her on social media for what they call “embarrassing” Will, like Yahoo! reports. While Will and Jada’s marriage has been speculated for years, August Alsina talked openly about his entanglement with Jada in 2020. This news followed with Jada having Will on “Red Table Talk” to talk about their open marriage.
Though in response to fans Essence wrote the op-ed, “Why Are We So Committed To Making Jada Pinkett Smith The Villain In Her Marriage?” The article discusses how Jada’s entanglement with Alsina has shifted her image in the public eye and how the public is committed to “misinterpreting her words.”
