On the back of Alex Killorn's three points and 24 saves from Andrei Vasilevskiy, the Lightning cruised to a 5-1 win over the Coyotes at Amalie Arena on Thursday night.
It's Tampa Bay's second-straight win and their first home victory of the season.
Killorn got the scoring started with two goals in a 2:01 span early in the first period.
On his first, Anton Stralman played Steven Stamkos aggressively on a 2-on-1 rush, but Stamkos was able to thread a pass through to Killorn, setting up a breakaway from the blue line in. In alone, Killorn snapped a wrist shot past Ivan Prosvetov's glove to give Tampa Bay the lead.
On his next shift, an Arizona turnover at their offensive blue line, sprung Killorn on a true breakaway. Killorn made a move to his backhand and jammed the puck over Prosvetov's pads for his second goal of the period.
Tampa Bay's power play struggles have been well documented since losing Nikita Kucherov to injury. Steven Stamkos snapped a 0-for-15 skid for that unit with a power play goal at 10:41 of the first period. From below the goal line, Stamkos tried to center the puck to Corey Perry in the crease, but the puck deflected off the back of Prosvetov's leg and in to cap a three-goal first period.
Alex Barre-Boulet scored the lone goal of the second as the Bolts grew their lead to four. Mikhail Sergachev held a clearing attempt in the zone at the left point and set up Barre-Boulet for a redirection at the far post.
For the second-straight game, Vasilevskiy had his shutout bid broken up late in the third period. On Thursday, it was Lawson Crouse who got the Coyotes on the board, elevating a shot over Vasilevskiy to cut the Lightning's lead to three. The referees initially ruled the puck had hit the crossbar, but seconds later the horn sounded stopping play and a brief review revealed that the entire puck had actually crossed the line.
Andrej Sustr rounded out the scoring on a shot from the point at 18:23 of the third period.
The Lightning will be idle this weekend, with their next game set for Monday at home against the Capitals.
