Online ordering and in store pickup have been convenient tools for people with busy lifestyles or who are not as mobile. Including curbside grocery pickup or deliveries from an online marketplace like Amazon, there are many options. One service people may not think of is the convenience of ordering and picking up medical equipment.
Medical equipment is used at home to aid in better quality living and can range from oxygen equipment and supplies to wheelchairs. Medical equipment is meant to be used over and over again, unlike single-use equipment, such as bandages or consumable medication.
Bothwell Regional Health Center has its own medical equipment store, Bothwell Medical Equipment (BME), providing convenient access for the community to medical supplies and devices prescribed by a provider. Although a prescription is not required to buy from BME, it is recommended if insurance is used.
“We have fabulous staff who work well with our community and have a wealth of knowledge to help patients with their needs,” said Director of Clinic Operations Elizabeth Green. “Because we are a Bothwell Regional Health Center clinic, we use the same electronic medical records system. That means BME staff can easily access patient records from the hospital or their Bothwell provider.”
BME has a full line of hospital equipment and health aids for sale or rent including oxygen equipment and supplies, respiratory equipment including CPAP and bilevel positive airway pressure (BIPAP) machines, nebulizers, walkers and wheelchairs, canes and crutches, bath safety products and a wide variety of other health care supplies.
“We have trained technicians who work with patients to deliver and set up their equipment and supplies in their home as directed by a provider,” Green said. “A licensed practical nurse, for applicable equipment, or highly skilled technicians also provide equipment instruction and orientation.”
To better serve customers and the community, Green said BME recently started offering two new services to make life easier when reordering supplies and communicating with staff.
“When CPAP patients are reordering respiratory supplies, they will receive an automated call,” she said. “They just need to answer a few simple questions and then their sleep therapy supplies will be quickly available for pickup. It’s that easy.”
BME also has a new patient app that makes it easy to communicate with staff, upload insurance information, update contact information, order supplies and make payments. People who shop or want to shop at BME can download the Patient Hub app by Brightree in their app store and call the clinic to receive the required registration code to create an account and get started.
